The White Stripes Cover David Bowie - “Moonage Daydream”
Legend has it that one of the first songs Jack and Meg White performed together, circa 1997, was a cover of David Bowie (aka Arnold Corn)’s “Moonage Daydream.” So in honor of the Thin White Duke’s 64th birthday today, let’s revisit an uber-rare recording of the White Stripes unleashing their take on his 1971 classic at Detroit’s Gold Dollar bar back in the day. How far back in the day, you ask? Well, Chromewaves thinks it’s from ‘97, but let’s just say it was back when Jack White’s “this is my little sister Meg White on the drums” introduction garnered the following priceless audience reaction: “He sounds like a weirdo!”James Blunt - Stay the Night

SEASICK STEVE - "Write Me A Few Lines" (7" Vinyl)

TMR-098
(no UPC)
Label: Third Man Records
7'' vinyl single, fold-over picture sleeve in poly bag
Blues
Release Date: 5/24/2011
SRP: 6.98
Train-hopping hobo blues sensation Seasick Steve teams up with Jack White and covers two classics by the legendary Mississippi Fred McDowell. The male/female vox on “Lines” captivate over a Zep-worthy rhythm section while the slow-burn slide of “Levee” is deep, down and dirgey like the best of Delta blues. Steve is a proper festival-headliner in the UK/Europe and we’re pretty sure this single will be the start of his widespread appreciation in the US.
